Is a patient lost a patient cured? WAIT! Let’s talk Medical Fitness

LET FITNESS BE YOUR MEDICINE!!!!
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about half of all adults in the U.S. have at least one chronic health condition, and as of 2014, seven of the top 10 causes of death were from chronic diseases. 🤔
Many (not all) doctors simply prescribe medicine for pain. Which truly doesn’t correct the underlying issues. Big shout out to the doctors who understand Fitness and opt for more “natural” alternatives before suggesting pills & surgery so soon. Women are urged to “induce” labor as opposed to working on diaphragmatic breathing and strengthening the pelvic floor. Yes there are circumstances where medicine or surgery is unavoidable then go for it. Let’s just not make it our “Go-To”
👵🏽
I find it disturbing that when my mother was well, well enough to exercise, they advised her to get “lap band” surgery which just made her stomach smaller, making it difficult for her to consume food, gave indigestion, did NOTHING to help her diabetes, high blood pressure, or knee pain. Ultimately she STILL became sick. Now it’s my job to spread the information! 💫
Unfortunately there has been a large void between the medical and fitness communities for a long time. With about 50% of adults in the U.S. suffering from chronic joint pain and about the same amount suffer from chronic disease, and approximately 70% suffer from a combination, many of us trainers are already training these special population clients, whether we realize it or not. 👩🏻‍⚕️
Often doctors may suggest exercise, although they won’t get too in depth in regards to weight lifting because in ways, weight lifting is beyond their scope of practice, as there’s TONS of things trainers aren’t “allowed” to get into as well such as prescribing medicine or diagnosing injuries. Yes cardio is an awesome start, but let’s say you have Achilles tendinitis, Knee valgus, shin splints, extreme kyphosis (rounded shoulders & back usually accompanied by a forward head tilt). HOW EFFECTIVE IS YOUR CARDIO PROGRAM GONNA BE? Ever seen somebody run with bad posture, it can be painful, dangerous, as & s ineffective. Let’s integrate Fitness & Medicine
